General information:

The Smart and Autonomous Systems Laboratory (Saslab) is a research laboratory at Istanbul Technical University conducting research on mobile robots, autonomous vehicles, and AI-assisted decision-making systems. Our work focuses on developing new algorithms and technologies that enable robots to perceive and map their environment, localize themselves, move safely, and carry out complex tasks autonomously.

The methods developed in our laboratory are validated through real-world experiments and tested on mobile robots, autonomous wheelchair platforms, and autonomous ground vehicles. The main goal of our research is to produce innovative solutions that contribute to the intelligent mobility and robotic systems of the future.

The research areas are as follows:

  1. Mobile Robotics and Autonomous Systems

  2. Autonomous Ground Vehicles

  3. Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicles

  4. Robot Localization and SLAM

  5. Robotic Perception and Computer Vision

  6. Path and Trajectory Planning, Obstacle Avoidance

  7. Human-Robot Interaction

  8. Multi-Robot Coordination

  9. Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles

  10. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

  11. Mechatronic System Design
